Dr Kate Robbins
Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist

I take a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy and strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. I value the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and work alongside clients to explore their experiences at a pace that feels right for them. I believe in tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs and draw on a range of therapeutic models and techniques to support meaningful and lasting change.

In therapy, I aim to understand each person’s values and aspirations, using these as guiding foundations during more challenging times. I’m passionate about supporting clients to build skills that promote recovery from eating disorder symptoms and improve overall wellbeing. My approach is grounded in seeing the whole person and recognising the unique strengths each individual brings to the therapeutic journey.

I recognise that eating disorders can impact not only the individual but also their family and wider support network. With a systemic and relational approach, I consider the different relationships surrounding a person and how these might influence their experience. I also focus on life outside the therapy room, supporting clients and their families to build practical skills for managing everyday challenges and navigating the recovery journey together.

I feel genuinely privileged to walk alongside clients in their recovery journey. I'm often in awe of the strength and openness they bring to the process, and I hold the trust they place in me with deep care and respect.

Background and Training

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia, where I gained experience across a range of settings including early intervention in psychosis, eating disorders, addiction, and work with young people and their families. My therapeutic foundation is in cognitive behavioural therapy, complimented by systemic approaches. Since qualifying, I’ve worked in adolescent crisis services and in early intervention innovations for eating disorders.

My interest in eating disorder work began in an adult day hospital, where I went on to hold roles in both inpatient and outpatient teams. I later moved into a role at BEAT, the UK’s eating disorder charity, where I gained valuable insight into the wider context of eating disorder care, including the importance of advocacy and improving access to support. I have experience of working with people across the lifespan and with neurodiversity.
