Testimonials

I had an amazing experience working with Treating Disorders. Six months ago I would never have believed that I could be living a life free of bingeing and purging. I feel happier and healthier than ever. Thank you for all of your support, perseverance and belief in me!

We engaged with Treating Disorders when it transpired that my daughter was struggling and had lost weight and was very anxious. We found them to be hugely professional and Georgie was fantastic. She made my daughter very comfortable and feel she was in a safe place where she could open up. We could see the improvement each week and our local doctor was amazed at the progress she made. Even after she no longer needed to see Georgie, she had been equipped with the tool kit and mechanisms to deal with any issues that arose. We have never looked back and I could not recommend them highly enough.

Amy is absolutely amazing! Her support and guidance has been invaluable and has truly helped me become the best, healthiest and strongest version of myself. So much has changed for me in the 18 months I’ve been in recovery and I would never have been able to get this far without therapy - I always look forward to our sessions as I know I will feel so much better after. Her kindness and professionalism has made a very hard journey so much easier. I think everyone would benefit from therapy!
Treating Disorders has been helpful in giving me techniques to start dealing with what has felt like a long pattern of stuck and disordered thinking. The sessions have a strong focus on treatment instead of just focusing on the 'why'. I would recommend to anyone whose main goal is to start moving forward.

Treating Disorders has saved my life. I was at crisis point with my eating disorder where it was going to kill me. I was unable to be sectioned so we looked into private therapy. Fortunately I have been in a position to afford this and Treating Disorders managed to allocate me a psychologist with sessions and CBT that suited my specific needs. This has been imperative support throughout a big life transition and Treating Disorders have been accommodating to facilitating sessions considering those factors. I would not be here without the treatment and support I have received from Freya and Sophie. I am thankful beyond words.
Georgie has been outstanding. Her support, insight, challenges, podcasts and care have been exceptional. I have not been this far into recovery in 19 years. I am very happy.
I have been having sessions with Ciara for almost a year now. From the start she made me feel understood, which was something I felt I hadn’t experienced before. I am now very far into my recovery and with Ciara’s continuing (amazing) support I am sure I will get to full recovery.
I was at rock bottom with my eating disorder and had been on the NHS waiting list for over a year when I started having sessions with Amy, and the care I have received has absolutely transformed my life and given me my future back. Amy is really skilled, insightful and has an incredible depth of knowledge and understanding of eating disorders. Treating Disorders as an organisation made it really simple to get in touch and discuss what I was looking for, the pricing is transparent, billing is simple and I've never had any issues with scheduling or attending the video appointments. I would highly recommend Treating Disorders and Amy to anybody struggling with this.
Thank you for helping me regain the control in my life. It wasn't easy at times, but it was so worth it!
We could not have felt in safer hands than Freya and Sophie’s. Freya was reassuring from the outset and despite being in a situation no parent wants to be in, we always felt that we were in safe hands. Sophie took over when Freya went on mat leave and had to build a relationship in the middle of treatment. Slowly but surely they got our daughter’s eating under control and helped her express her emotions better. We benefited as a family from their sessions and I highly recommend both Freya and Sophie. They are compassionate, knowledgeable and caring and know how to connect with young people. We will be forever grateful for their support and guidance.
Having previously met with several unsuccessful therapists, Georgie was the only one to really get through, change my mind set and help me to slowly get better. I am forever grateful.
A huge thank you to Rhiannon, whose ability to turn our toughest times around session after session has been an incredible support and inspirational - as a Mum but also fellow healthcare professional. As parents we know we travel the road with our children but the complexities and emotions of eating disorder, adolescence and all other co-occurring factors can feel overwhelming at times, and it is always a comfort to know our next therapy session is just around the corner. My husband has also seen the benefit to us as a family with each session, to the extent we know we can help find a path through our latest challenges and sad moments 'in the next therapy session'. Rhiannon shows such patience, compassion and has provided such a safe and non-judgemental space for our daughter. She has helped us always feel hope that things are getting, and will continue to get better. Thank you.
My nearly year long period of therapy with Sophie has been absolutely phenomenal. The positive changes in managing my eating disorder have been life-changing - something I never imagined I'd be able to have any impact on whatsoever in the huge amount of time I've been struggling with it. She helped me take back control of my day-to-day life, as well as processing an incredibly traumatic past with the help of EMDR. My sessions with Sophie were always filled with understanding and compassion, whilst still being focused on tackling what was important.
Having a safe space to talk freely about my emotions has lifted an enormous weight off my shoulders and tremendously impacted my recovery.
I am so thankful to have found Treating Disorders. After years of unsuccessfully trying to recover from anorexia via the NHS I was feeling very disheartened and hopeless about recovery. But working with Treating Disorders has been transformational. My psychologist was so warm, down to earth and empathic and held the hope for me when I had none. We used a mixture of CBT-E and EMDR (which I hadn't heard of before but was incredible) and I honestly feel like a new woman, so much more confident and happy in my skin. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I worked with Georgie over the course of a few years, and she has honestly had such a huge impact on my life. She is compassionate, thoughtful, easy to talk to, but most importantly she helped me identify a lot of my negative thought patterns and provides practical, actionable advice that I could take into the real world. She guided me through recovery, and even afterwards she is a safe space to navigate life. I hadn't quite connected with therapy until I started working with Georgie. I highly recommend her.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Sophie Bates! With her level of expertise and caring nature, she was able to help me navigate recovery and ultimately decide that recovery was worth it. I highly recommend her to work with.
10/10 – Treating Disorders, and specifically Dr. Sophie Bates, have been incredibly helpful in my recovery journey. Dr. Bates uses a good blend of EMDR and talk therapy to identify distorted thoughts and behaviours and to restructure both to create a more positive relationship with one’s body and food. Dr. Bates is incredibly personable and supportive, and her thoughtful demeanour encourages openness and vulnerability—things essential in ED recovery. Treating Disorders is timely in sending session links and invoices, and communicates well with its clients.
I cannot thank Treating Disorders enough. My psychologist listened and supported and taught me so many things without ever judging, or criticising. They always made every task feel so achievable, and then made me feel so proud when progress was made. I can't ever thank them enough for giving me back the control over my own life, and for filling me with hope for my future.
Having gone through various other therapists and services in the past, I can say that my experience with Treating Disorders has been invaluable and exceptional. My therapist clearly works for me rather than on me, and doesn’t dictate the format of our sessions. They provide an open and flexible environment to discuss whatever may be on my mind whilst offering expert advice and commentary. I am extremely grateful for my time with them. Having a safe space to talk freely about my emotions has lifted an enormous weight off my shoulders and tremendously impacted my recovery.
Excellent clinicians, who have different styles which suited me at different points of recovery. I really value Ines's active listening skills and the way she helps me to navigate life in general, as well as maintain my recovery
I have been working with Dr Georgie Cox over recent years and I have benefitted enormously from this work. I find myself in a place of ease and freedom around food and eating that I have never experienced before. Georgie is extremely knowledgeable and equally empathetic, but will gently yet firmly challenge me where necessary and appropriate. I would highly recommend her.
Through my therapy sessions with Amy at Treating Disorders I’ve made significant progress on my recovery from anorexia. Our sessions vary in focus; sometimes we discuss how my past few weeks have been, while other times we concentrate on a specific issue I’m facing. Amy is excellent at offering practical tools and techniques to help me move forward in these areas. This balanced approach has been really helpful in my growth. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for both support and actionable strategies.
Having worked with Freya for a few months now I can confidently say that she has helped me massively. The service itself for calls is really easy to use and I have helpful techniques and advice that I take away from every session. Freya makes it a very safe space to open up and be vulnerable but also to challenge the eating disorder and negative thoughts. I feel very grateful to Freya and Treating Disorders for all the help that I've received so far.
Great psychologists who provide tailored care to suit your needs and great tips.
I am so grateful for the support I am receiving at Treating Disorders. I feel like my psychologist truly understands me and my ED struggles. She is compassionate and non judgmental whilst also giving me the push I need to make changes and helpful tools that I can actually use in my daily life. I’ve noticed real progress in both my mental and physical health, and for the first time in years, I feel hopeful about full recovery. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking support with their eating disorder.
My experience working with Ines at Treating Disorders was life changing. I have never been this far into eating disorder recovery before and I could not be more grateful for her support in getting me to this place.
Working with Sophie at Treating Disorders has helped me shift patterns I didn't think we're possible. It's given me a new insight into how my brain works and the tools to work with it, instead of it working against me. These are invaluable life skills that have the potential to change everything for me. I have seen fundamental shifts in my thoughts, behaviour and beliefs within just six months. Without the tools I learnt from Sophie, I know I would be struggling a lot.
A specialist eating disorder clinical psychologist is exactly what my daughter needed to help her, and I just wish that we had known about Treating Disorders 18 months ago. So glad that we came across them recently, as the treatment my daughter has received has been life changing for her.
I felt seen and heard and not judged one bit! I didn’t know how helpful CBT would be but it has transformed my life!
A few months ago, I really didn't know what to expect from treatment. I was so nervous about exposing all of my secrets and having to try things that seemed so difficult and overwhelming. As soon as I met my psychologist Georgie, she made me feel comfortable and brave and ready to tackle every challenge. I almost don't recognise the person that I have become. I feel so free, so much more confident and I say yes to so many opportunities. I am so grateful for my therapy for helping me get to this point.
